It's Zucchini Smackdown time!

The Seville Farm Market Zucchini Smackdown is coming on Saturday, Aug. 16. The market’s popular annual zucchini cooking contest is now in its sixth year. Contestants are invited to prepare their best sweet or savory zucchini dish and bring it to the market for tasting by celebrity judges. There is also a category for the largest zucchini. Here are the rules: 1. Entries must be in place by 9:45 a.m. Judging begins promptly at 10 a.m. 2. The zucchini should be grown as locally as possible. 3. There will be two categories for judging the prepared dishes: Sweet or Savory. The largest zucchini will be determined by weight. 4. Please provide the recipe along with your entry. 5. The decision of the judges will be final. Entry forms are available at the Seville Farm Market coffee table, from vendors, or at the park gazebo the day of the contest. All dishes will be available for sampling by the public after judging. The Seville Farm Market is open 9 a.m. to noon each Saturd

Market opens May 24!

Join us for a new season of the Seville Farm Market on May 24. We'll be open 9 a.m. to noon rain or shine every Saturday through Sept. 27 (except during the Seville Yard Sale on June 14). What makes us different from other markets? First, we're a producers-only market. That means our vendors do not buy produce or baked goods or craft items from others and re-sell them. If you buy strawberries, cookies, bread, onions, jam, honey, maple syrup, furniture or anything else at the Seville Farm Market, you're buying it from the person who made it or grew it. He or she can tell you exactly how the food tastes or exactly what's in it. Second, we offer a great small-town atmosphere. Our location in Stanhope Park offers plenty of space for parking and browsing. Grab a cup of coffee, visit with our friendly vendors, and enjoy your Saturday morning. For opening day on May 24, there will be free popcorn for everyone, courtesy of Elfin Crafts, and free "giant" plants

Vendor meeting April 24

There will be an informational meeting for new and returning Seville Farm Market vendors 7 p.m. April 24 at Seville UMC, 74 W. Main St., Seville. Melissa O'Connell from the Medina County Health Department will be on hand to share the latest news in food safety requirements and to answer your questions. This would be a great opportunity to invite anyone you know who is interested in learning more about being a farm market vendor. Spread the word! Hope to see you there.
