Annual zucchini cooking contest is Aug. 12

Get out your best zucchini recipes for the Seville Farm Market's annual Zucchini Smackdown cooking contest on Aug. 12. A trio of local “celebrity” judges will choose winners in two categories: Best Savory Dish and Best Sweet Dish. There will also be a prize for the largest zucchini. This year's judges are Medina County Common Pleas Court Judge Joyce Kimbler, retired Judge James Kimbler, and Seville Police Officer Nick Banks. Thank you to them for donating their time and taste buds! Here are the rules: 1. Entries must be in place by 9:45 a.m. Judging begins promptly at 10 a.m. 2. In the spirit of the Seville Farm Market, the zucchini should be grown as locally as possible. 3. There will be two categories for judging the prepared dishes: Sweet or Savory. The largest zucchini will be determined by weight. 4. Please provide a copy of the recipe along with your entry. 5. The decision of the judges will be final. Special dates for 2017

February's taste of warm spring weather has us thinking about farm market season! Our produce vendors are busy making plans for the new year. Some already have tomato plants growing in their greenhouses! Here's a look at some important dates for the 2017 season: Meeting for prospective and returning vendors: April 27 Opening Day: May 27 Seville Yard Sale -- No Market: June 17 Zucchini Smackdown Cooking Contest: Aug. 12 Closing Day: Sept. 30 Holiday Market: Dec. 9 Interested in being a vendor at the Seville Farm Market? Plan to attend the April 27 meeting at 7 p.m. at Seville United Methodist Church, 74 W. Main St., Seville. Come just to get information and ask questions or sign up for the season. The fee to be a seller at the Seville Farm Market remains one of the most affordable around at just $25 for the season.

Snowstorm (maybe) Brainstorm (for sure) Potluck Dinner is Feb. 23 at Seville UMC

It's time once again for the Seville Farm Market's annual Snowstorm  Brainstorm Potluck Dinner. It'll take place 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23 at  Seville United Methodist Church. Please bring your own table service and a  dish to share. Iced tea and coffee will be provided. It's always a nice evening with delicious food and time to reconnect with  market friends. It's also when we begin planning the upcoming season.  Please bring your ideas for ways to improve and promote the market.
